The Falkirk Herald was first published on Saturday August 14th, 1845. It was published by a Glasgow lawyer, Alexander Hedderwick. In 1846 the title was purchased by Archibald Johnston, who owned a local print works. The Falkirk Herald is still owned by Johnson Press. Branch offices at Grangemouth, Denny, Linlithgow, Bo'ness and Bathgate c1912. Circulation of 30,000 copies weekly throughout central Scotland c1958. Head Office 125 High St Falkirk

Furniture makers, Falkirk. Little is known of this company or the partners, but the earliest known record is of William Christie, upholsterer, who was elected to Falkirk Town Council in 1855 (Falkirk Herald 8 Nov 1855). The Falkirk Herald carries adverts for Archibald Christie & Co furniture shop, 1 Oct 1863 and a change of premises noted in the Falkirk Herald of 19 Oct 1865. The company of Christie & Miller was registered in 1909, the warehouse was opened on 11 June 1910 and the Factory and land were for sale, 20 Jan 1912.
