Royal Scots Greys
|
The Royal Scots Greys was raised in 1678 as a cavalry regiment (Royal Regiment of Scots Dragoons). The name Royal Scots Greys was adopted in 1866. On 2 July 1971 they were merged with 3rd Carabiniers (Prince of Wales's Dragoon Guards) to form the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. They were the last regiment still mounted on horse (until 1941) and were named after the colour of their horses.
