The Glasgow, Stirlingshire & Sons of the Rock Society
|
THE GLASGOW STIRLINGSHIRE AND SONS OF THE ROCK SOCIETY. - The first dinner of this charitable institution took place on "Auld Hansel Monday," 1809. The gathering on that occasion of upwards of sixty sons of Stirlingshire must have given encouraging hopes of the success of the scheme of brotherly kindness then inaugurated. By another year the society had increased to 160 members. The Society is still in operation and its main aim is to provide financial assistance to charities and pensioners in the Stirling and Falkirk Districts.
