Civil Defence School Taymouth Castle

From 1949 to 1968, the Civil Defence Corps Training School was at Taymouth Castle in Scotland. In a joint announcement by the Home Office and the Scottish Office, it was declared that Taymouth Castle was to be used as one of three training centres in Scotland, which would teach instructors in how to train a volunteer force in times of national emergency, such as a nuclear attack. the Corps was eventually disbanded in 1968, after a change of thinking in how to deal with nuclear attacks.
