Central Scotland Fire & Rescue Service

Central Region Fire Brigade was formed as a result of Local Government reform on the 16th May, 1975 from part of the former Central Area Fire Brigade, part of The South Eastern Area Fire Brigade and part of Perth and Kinross Fire Brigade. In 1996 the name was changed to Central Scotland Fire Brigade with out boundary change. The Brigade covers the areas of Clackmannanshire, Falkirk and Stirling Councils an area of 2,652 Square Kilometres with a population of 281,600. The Brigade is governed by the Central Scotland Fire Board Fire Authority which consists of eleven members, three from Stirling Council, six from Falkirk Council and two from Clackmannanshire Council. They have adopted the motto "Protecting the Heart of Scotland" On Friday the 17th September 2004 the Brigade changed its name to Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service.

Founded prior to 1915, the Falkirk & District Choral Union held concerts in the Falkirk area.

Bo'ness Burgh
|
Bo'ness (Borrowstounness) was created a Burgh of Regality in 1668, a Burgh of Barony in 1748 and a Police Burgh in 1883. The Burgh was incorporated in 1903. Local government originated with the Bo'ness Harbour Trustees in 1744. The Trustees became Town and Harbour Trustees in 1843 with enlarged powers. In 1883 the Trustees were replaced by Police and Burgh Commissioners who were in turn replaced in 1903 by Bo'ness Town Council. In 1975 Bo'ness and the surrounding area became part of Falkirk District. Previously the surrounding area had been part of the County of West Lothian.

Telfer Drummond was born in 1883 and died in 1965. He was an amateur photographer. Latterly lived in Laurieston Terrace which was in the Comely Park area

Grangemouth Parish School Board
|
Grangemouth Parish School Board was set up in 1900 when Grangemouth Parish (civil parish) was disjoined from Polmont Parish. Prior to this, the schools in Grangemouth area were governed by Grangemouth District School Board.
From 1873 to 1919 schools were managed by Parish School Boards (overseen by the Scottish Board of Education). From 1919 to 1930 these were replaced by School Management Committees and overseen by the Education Authority for the area. In 1930 County Councils were required to set up Education Committees which replaced the Education Authorities. |

Lacre was a manufacturer of specialist vehicles for the municipal services, based in the London area. Electric cars were produced in 1904 to 1905 and three petrol-engined models were offered in 1910.

1st Polmont Company of the Boys' Brigade was formed in 1886 and was the first company in the Falkirk area. Along with 7 other companies it was a founding member of the Falkirk & District Battalion in 1917.
