Despite originating in Glasgow, the bulk of the membership was in the Falkirk area and from 1921 the registered office was at 30 Newmarket St, Falkirk and then from 1954 the office moved to 11 Callendar Riggs, Falkirk.

The Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA), founded in 1844, is an international network of non-sectarian organisations that provide athletic, recreational, cultural and educational services to their members. The YMCA today has grown into an international organisation, operating in over 100 countries worldwide. The Falkirk Branch was founded in 1854. Minutes taken of the first meeting state that the objective of the Association is, "the Religious, and moral improvement of the young men of Falkirk." In Scotland, YMCA Scotland is the collective body of all YMCA local associations. The work of the YMCA is carried out through local YMCA's and national programmes.

George Fairbairn (senior)

Mr George Fairbairn, of Camelon Park, was ordained an elder in Falkirk Parish Church on 20th April, 1823. He was head of a large nail-making establishment in Camelon, then the staple industry of the village. His son, Mr George Fairbairn, was inducted to the eldership in Falkirk Parish Church in 1869, having been previously ordained to the office some time before at Bridge of Allan. He was for many years representative of Falkirk Iron Co in the north of Scotland and also in Ireland.
