Messrs Stewart and Anderson of Greenhill Brickworks opened cannerton Brickworks in August 1933. Additional backing was obtained from Mr Ferguson and A Forbes-Hendry. The first bricks produced were gifted for the foundation of the YMCA Hall in Anderson Park, Denny. The firm took over Herbertshire Brickworks, but sold it to the McCaig family.
The brickworks operated its own coal mine until Nationalisation in 1946, when it was taken over by a newly formed company known as the Cloybank Co. This closed in 1950.
