Site history notes
In 1782 the land on which Kersehill was built was purchased for Alexander Ramsay of Mungall from Col Adam Livingstone. Mungall was sold the following year to Captain Charles Napier, and so it would seem that Kersehill House was built then. Alexander and his son were connected with the Falkirk Banking Co, and then with the Bank of Scotland. The latter bank fell heirs to Kersehill in 1843 and sold it to Lt-Col Archibald Inglis. After his death, the estate was purchased in 1847 by Thomas Melville, wood merchant.. In 1899 it was again sold by Melville's descendants to David Cowan, then manager of Carron Co. He, however, only kept it a few years before it was sold to the Falkirk Iron Co on 1902. Maj Arthur Kennard, manager of the latter company took up residence in the house. He was followed by his son Cap H Kennard. The house was eventually demolished as part of the expansion of the works.
