Appears to have been little more than a brass foundry and engineering works. Established by Thomas Blackadder in 1851. The foundry side soon lapsed and work concentrated on engineering. In 1898, for example, it was supplying machinery to collieries and brickworks. Later still it became the Blackadder Motor Co.
