In 1807, George Sherriff had sasine of two acres of the lands of Dalderse called Pow Flatt, on which he erected Abbotshaugh House. It was re-built shortly after 1875, in which year it passed into the hands of Peter Muirhead, timber merchant. It was later occupied by the Muirhead family.
