Two blast furnace were erected by Henry M Cadell in 1863. After only 6 months work stopped with only one furnace having been in blast. A rise in pig iron prices saw the furnace re-lit in 1870 for intermittent use. However, the depression of 1874 saw final closure. The plant was demolished in 1890.
