Object detail

Site type
Site history notes
In 1870 James & John Brown founded the Rosebank Foundry. It operated unsuccessfully for several years and was eventually taken over by their father. In 1875 Alexander Brown took over and changed the name to Forth & Clyde Iron Co. Andrew Cockburn was a co-partner.
The following year it was bought by Brown, Liddell and David Dickson. In 1896 the works moved to Sunnyside where there was more room for expansion. In 1898 the Forth and Clyde merged with Sunnyside and the old site was abandoned. 1929 saw it incorporated into Allied Ironfounders Ltd. It was closed in 1963, most of the labour force moving to Larbert Foundry.
