A well-preserved skeleton was found in 1868 at the Falkirk Iron Works.

It is difficult to understand the context of this burial as there appear to have been neither grave goods nor a cist. The despcription may be flawed by a printing error - it is more likely that the body was found 10yds from a building than from the surface.
The most likely area for the winning of clay would be in the SE part of the works, near to the earlier clay pits of the Callendar Pottery.
