Built in the Denny Hills on the Little Denny Burn. A dam was constructed on the downhill or east side.

Build between 1870 and 1890 by the Falkirk and Larbert Water Trust. In 1901 pipes were led from this reservoir to the Little Denny Reservoir to act as a feeder for the latter.
