The Burgh Chamberlain was responsible for the financial accounts of Denny & Dunipace Town Council. The post ceased to exist in 1975 when Denny & Dunipace Town Council was abolished and the functions were transferred to the Director of Finance of Falkirk District Council.

In 1975 Denny & Dunipace Burgh became part of Falkirk District under the Local Government Act of 1973. From 1877 Denny & Dunipace had a Town Council with nine members : a Provost, 2 Baillies, a Treasurer, Dean of Guild, 2 Police Judges and 2 Councillors.

Burgh Police Courts were responsible for summary jurisdiction and handled minor crimes. Royal burghs had courts from the medieval period, while the feudal lord of burghs of barony was entitled to hold barony courts. Under the Police Act,1833 and subsequent Police Acts the right or obligation to hold burgh courts (also known as police courts) were extended to Police Burghs.

In 1886 Denny & Dunipace Police Commissioners adopted the Burgh's Gas Supply (Scotland) Act 1876 and Denny Gas Consumer Company was transferred from private ownership to the Burgh of Denny & Dunipace Commissioners of Police. The Gas Commissioners were then established with a Gas Committee reporting to the new Gas Commissioners. By 1927 this had become the Gas Committee of Denny & Dunipace Town Council with a Gas Department running the gas works. Predecessors: Denny Joint Stock Gas Company was formed around 1845. By 1861 it was defunct and a new company, Denny Gas Consumers' Company Ltd was formed and it erected Denny Gas Works in 1861.
