Central Region Fire Brigade was formed as a result of Local Government reform on the 16th May, 1975 from part of the former Central Area Fire Brigade, part of The South Eastern Area Fire Brigade and part of Perth and Kinross Fire Brigade. In 1996 the name was changed to Central Scotland Fire Brigade with out boundary change. The Brigade covers the areas of Clackmannanshire, Falkirk and Stirling Councils an area of 2,652 Square Kilometres with a population of 281,600. The Brigade is governed by the Central Scotland Fire Board Fire Authority which consists of eleven members, three from Stirling Council, six from Falkirk Council and two from Clackmannanshire Council. They have adopted the motto "Protecting the Heart of Scotland" On Friday the 17th September 2004 the Brigade changed its name to Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service.

Falkirk Fire Brigade had its foundations in the purchase of a fire engine by the Stentmasters in 1785 but a regular fire brigade was not really set up until 1872 when a part-time fire brigade began monthly drilling. In 1975 Falkirk Fire Brigade became part of Central Region Fire Brigade (later Central Scotland Fire Brigade) during the re-organisation of local authorities. The headquarters were established in Maddiston.

Camelon School
Camelon Public School was opened on 11 March 1876. By the 1930s pupils of secondary age were attending the Advanced Division of the school and in June 1960 the primary department was closed and the school became a Junior Secondary School. The primary pupils transferred to Bantaskin School in 1958 and to Carnuirs and Easter Carmuirs Schools in 1960. Camelon Junior Secondary School became Camelon High School in 1976 and was closed in 1989. The buildings became a Day Centre. The earliest school records were destroyed by a fire on 22 December 1905.
